Freestyle

Location: T.b.a. (option 1Tuam, dependant on rain, option 2 Clifden)

Date: Saturday 13th February 2010

Team sizes.       Tuam; 4 paddlers. Clifden; 2 paddlers

Each team must have 1x man and 1 x woman.

Time: 3pm

Format:

  • Each individuals overall score are added together to give final team score.
  • Points will be allocated according to team placings.
  • In the event of a tie the college with highest individual score gets the higher ranking. If there is still a tie the next highest individual score gets higher ranking
  • Team running order for the rodeo will be decided by pulling colleges names from a hat.

Tuam

Format

  • Each college is allocated 6 minutes in the hole and work as a team in round robin format.
  • The score sheet will allow for six runs each. (Each competitor will have plenty of time for two runs each)
  • Once a competitor flushes their run ends and the next competitor begins their run.
  • In the event of a swim each team is responsible for the rescue of their team-mate.
  • Each individual’s score will be based on their two best runs added together.
  • Each team may get on the water as soon as the previous heat finishes and will have two minutes for practise runs.
  • There will be a hooter at the start and end of each heat.
  • We will be using flood lights at Tuam.

Clifden

Why NUIGKC likes Clifden

Format

  • Due to time constraints for Clifden we will not have time for practise runs.
  • Each heat will consist of three to four colleges doing round robin.
  • Each competitor will be given two runs of 45 seconds each. Each heat will last approximately 24 minutes.
  • Competitors will drop in from above the bridge.
  • There will be a hooter at the end of each run.
  • Each competitor’s score will be their two runs added together.
  • Each heat must be ready to go ten minutes before their heat starts as in the event of a heat finishing earlier the next heat will begin a.s.a.p.
  • In the event of it getting dark we will have floodlights hanging from the bridge, sunset is approximately 5.48pm.
